How to LOVE MONDAYS

8 Apr

Mondays.

The most dreadful part of the week. The end of the weekend fun and relaxation. The start of a new stressful work week.

Don’t you just hate it? The day where we almost literally drag ourselves to work and spend all our life energy just to survive the day or much worse, the whole week.

I used to hate it. I still do sometimes. Until you realize, you can’t really do anything to stop it. Acceptance is the key, and of course PARADIGM SHIFT or simply a change of perspective.

Know that you have a choice

There are tons of things in your busy, fast-phased life that is connected with MONDAYS, and those things are the ones making it unpleasant. A work deadline, seeing someone you don’t really like, or an unpleasant commitment you just got yourself into.

The solution is to always be aware that you always have freedom. Know that you can always walk away. You can quit your job, you can call in sick, ignore the person you dislike and many more. I am not saying you have to do these, but by simply keeping these things in mind gives you a sense of freedom and idea that you are still in control of your life. When you do this, mondays will surely lighten up.

Create a Schedule

Usually, we are not looking forward to Mondays simply because we think that we need to be PRODUCTIVE on that first day. By doing this we are unconsciously putting more pressure on ourselves. Instead, make a schedule of your tasks for the week. This way, you will know which ones you really need to prioritize. Having a schedule will also keep you motivated and on time for the rest of the week.

Squeeze in a little meditation

This really works for me. Sometimes no matter how you mentally prepare yourself to go to work, when you get there, there is a chance that the monday stress and pressure will all be back. What I usually do is to take a few minutes away from my desk just to clear my mind.

Tip: find a peaceful spot at work to meditate. Somewhere that you will not be reminded of your tasks ahead. This will allow you to have a break from your routine and come back with a refreshed mind.

Do something Spontaneous

Break out of your usual routine. If mondays remind us of the stresses of work, find an activity to look forward to. Plan a lunch date with a friend, watch a movie after work, or buy that shoes you always wanted.

This will get your mind out of usual boring and heavy day and who knows, this might actually make you excited for Mondays.

Spread the FRIDAY LOVE

Remember that you don’t have to wait for Friday to relax, making you sulk the whole week. Just like doing something spontaneous, Schedule something in the middle of the week.

Go home early on a Wednesday or even take the whole day off. Wear your Friday outfit a day earlier, or have a Tuesday dinner at your favorite place to go on Fridays. This will make the week less daunting.

Don’t be too wild on the weekend

Most of the time we spend all our energy on the weekend partying or doing errands, because we think that this is the only time we have. We squeeze too many activities on the weekend that we end up too tired and exhausted for Monday.

Try to take things slowly. Think of weekends as a time to recharge and unwind, and not to exhaust all your energy. Don’t forget that the mind and body are interconnected, so having healthy habits even on weekends will make you happier and more energetic when Monday approaches.

Be GRATEFUL

The next time you are starting to hate Mondays, think of the unemployed. This will make you realize that while you are there hating on a Monday, someone out there wishes to have a job, so consider yourself lucky. And remember that it is actually your choice to have that commitment

having these tips in mind will definitely help you face every week with a smile and a refreshed soul.

Try to make these as a habit and you will see that MONDAYS are really not that bad.

bisou bisou,

Stice
